Boss HM-2 Appreciation

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up these two pedals for a song, and I must say the HM-2 blows my mind. I'm so glad I picked this up. I was originally gonna flip both of these but I'm definitely holding onto the Heavy Metal HM-2...at least for awhile!!

Chorus has never really been my thing so I may unload the CH-1, but for what they were asking, you'd have bought it too!

Im a big fan of the HM-2 as well. Mine was one of the first effects I ever bought (for guitar originally).

There was a similar thread to this one, not so long ago. You are not alone!

hopefully within the hour i should have my third!
i have two MIT's, where one sounds much better that the other, but my guitarist has an MIJ, and it sounds soo much better than either of my MIT ones.
Fingers crossed!!

My HM2 is made in taiwan, and I've always been skeptical about the differences between MIJ vs MIT boss pedals, but if I ever come across an MIJ HM2 I'll have to give the 2 a comparison.

I dig mine lots, I got it for $20 on eBay a while back, It doesn't have alot of volume though, its probably just broken haha but I use it with a geb-7 to add some volume and low end,

$20 well spent

i have been very sceptical about the very same thing, but once i tried my mate's MIJ, my opinion changed in this case.

I won the pedal for £25 so i'll be able to check out whther it is anything to do with MIJ/MIT or just other variables.

once i have some news i'll let you know!

I used to have one, back when I was obsessed with effects. It was pretty killer, but tracked poorly on bass. I ended up selling it to my guitarist.

How does a distortion "track" poorly?

Ahhh okay, I can see how you'd get confused by the name of it.

well, my MIJ arrived yesterday, and i have now had a good chance to a/b all four that i have in my house now!
the two MIJs are incredibly similar, but both do sound fuller than the frankly thin sounding MITs. The MIJs seem to have a tighter bottom (we all like that! LOL), and a fuller mid and top end, whereas the MITs sound thinner and weaker to my ears, with an accentuated 'fizz' on the top end.

originally i a/b'ed the two MIT and found quite a difference between those, and now i find that the MIJ seems to kill even the better one.

as i said before, i have always been extremely sceptical about the whole MIJ sounds better thing, but in this case i think it is true from my experience.

i hope this helps someone

BTW, unfortunately i am unable to do clips - sorry!

Anyone know of any mods for the MIT to tighten up the bottom? I love the distortion but also find the loss of low end and the hiss mentioned above. Tend gto just use my one for completely over the top noisy distortion.
