Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal...for bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
i used to have one of these a looong time ago and had fun with it...just scored one recently and I going to put it to use pretty soon...

just curious...anyone around here use one of these for distortion? or hows about this...any cool recording or maybe players know for using one? Doesn't JMJ use one at times, aside from a butt load of all other distortion pedals? I think these pedals were also quite popular in the 90's...yes? I wonder who else uses or used them?

it is a rad distortion - love the tone - BUT it kills the lows, never tried to blend it might be cool. love the halloween coloring too!

You can get some very bass friendly settings, especially if you point the tone knobs at each other (bass 3 o clock, treble (which includes mids) 9 o clock). Try that and go from there - it is a VERY good distortion pedal.

cool! yeah, i remember setting my tone knobs up something like that, facing each other...one recording i turned them all up for a wall of bees! but yes, a very cool and awesome tone...can't wait to fire it up again!

so...i've got my distortion covered for now...got a Musket for fuzz now just need that awesome lower overdrive pedal for some grit and grind...

hmmm... my guitarist just picked on up, might have to try it at practice. On his guitar it's very nasally and nasty, not something I would associate with bass, but idk how he had it set.

anyone changed the first capacitor to at or above a microfarad to see if that opens up the bass end?

old mate from Godflesh used to use one on his bass. The trick is to keep the gain down and the volume way up. It's one of those 'leave on all the time and adjust amp to suit' effects really.

It's awesome. Everyone in your band needs one haha. I never had any problem with the bass dropping out. If it was it was minimal.
Guitars will sound like Entombed and such.
Yes, Godflesh.

If your guitarist has it and it doesn't sound like this he's doing it wrong

Of course it's not best used as a subtle distortion... to me anyway. ymmv
