Couple of thoughts about that. One is that it has a pretty strong EQ shape that it adds, at all different settings--so you might prefer a compressor that doesn't also add EQ. You can see an image of what it does in my review for the older LM-2B. Another thing is that people sometimes want to hear their compressor "being an effect", and (aside from the EQ) the LMB-3 won't do that. It adds no sparkle, no magic, and not much fatness.
Try setting the enhance and ratio both to around 9:00, and the threshold to noon. Then adjust the threshold knob until you start to hear a response that seems like an improvement.
