Question Boss LMB3 vs MXR Dyna Comp in the I shouldn't re-acquire a good comp battle...

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok....so I want to add a compressor in to my set up. In the past when I was gigging and recording a lot I used an EBS Multi Comp and really liked it.

HOWEVER these days I am back in school and only gigging once a month and doing no recording other than demos...

SO I would like this new comp to be of the <$100 variety. I am up in Canada so used options are fewer and you aren't going to run into much other than the common companies..

Now after a long winded/not needed explanation...would you go with the Boss Limiter Enhancer or the MXR Dyna Comp?

I use a comp just to smooth out peaks and add a little warmth/body....for instance I rarely played the EBS at or over 12 o clock position
4 string, passive Jack Casidy or T-bird into a Mesa Boogie Walkabout 12

thanks

BBE Opto Stomp is a quality and affordable choice for what you're describing.

Yep, go BBE. If you want to go even cheaper, the DOD Milkbox is nice.

i was hopeful of getting your opinion....I have spent hours on your page the last week or so...SO MUCH GREAT info....

I almost said screw it and just bought the Behringer Dyna Comp rip off as it seems to perform just as well....but it feels dirty to order a behringer pedal......and I want a metal casing...

I love the LMB3 and hated the OptoStomp. YMMV.

Fair point, they do different things, so it really does depend on personal goals and tastes.
