boss LS-2 - Cheaper ways to obtain/alternatives?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been trying to obtain a Boss LS-2 off of eBay the past few weeks. Unfortunately, I have a low budget so I constantly get outbid. I'm curious if there's any alternative I may find cheaper. I'm looking for a simple looper/blender. Something that can run two signals a one time through a single output, like the Xotic X-Blender or the Morley FX Blender, but I would like something less expensive. Any ideas?

Maybe you could take two of these: 1 at the beginning of your signal chain, 1 at the end and split you signal this way. It shure is not the SAME thing as the LS-2 but, if you're going for cheap...

Would my signal overpower it and cause it to sound...well, crappy?

Behringer and Nady make mini mixers.

Not as slick as an LS-2, but will put together a split signal if that is all you need. Will combine the dry out of your MicroPog with the effect out for instance.

If you try that route, use it after a buffered pedal at least. Passively mixing signals is often a recipe for loading, treble loss, sometimes oscillating. You didn't say what you're trying to spend, but you may be able to find a crappy old active mixer from the 80s on ebay for pretty cheap, which will do the job.

I'd just stick with the LS-2, but look other places than ebay. At $50 used, there isn't much room to budge in terms of price vs quality.

When looking for a 2nd LS-2, I tried ebay a few times and also was outbid; they seem to fetch a lot more on ebay for some reason, I think due in part to out-of-country buyers who are willing to pay higher prices (which still end up cheaper than buying in their own country). I've had good luck with the talkbass, thegearpage, and harmony-central classifieds, as well as craigslist of course, though obviously it is harder to find specific items from your local craigslist.

I've in the past searched Craigslist with Google:

"Boss LS-2" site:craigslist.org

This lets you search the whole country's Craigslists, and often you'll find people who don't mind shipping. I know I personally would rather ship than have weirdos coming over to my house to check out my gear, stroke their chin, eye my girlfriend, etc. So it's not rare to find a similar individual who would actually rather ship.
