Boss LS-2 Line Selector

I've read the manual of the LS-2 and I'm not sure if it will do what I am wanting. I don't want to go buy it just to test this out, so figured I'd ask first. What I'm wanting to do is have 1 send (Send A) go out, but have 2 returns. I'll be splitting the signal after the send. If I don't have a Send B, will the Return B work? I want to blend the 2 return signals in the output (which I assume the A + B mode will do).

This is my idea...I'm wanting to be able to fill in some space normally covered by rhythm guitarist. My plan was to do the following, while playing an octave up on bass...

Bass -> LS-2 Send A -> Octave multiplexer w/ 2 outs...
1)Dry out -> OD/Muff pedal -> LS-2 Return B
2)Effect out (octave down) -> LS-2 Return A
LS-2 Output -> Amp

Think this will work?

Ooh, I don't know, but that sounds intriguing and possibly killer!

Yes that will work. You don't need to SEND anything to be able to use the RTN.

Incidentally you could just send the other SENDs to your dirt pedal rather than using the dry out from the Multiplexer and you'll get the same result. It would be the same as having the Multiplexer in one channel and the OD/Muff in the other.

D'oh! I had read about using the octave to OD idea first and then realized I'd need a way to rejoin them because my amp only has 1 input. Instead of actually re-thinking the problem, I just crammed the LS-2 into the solution.

Or, you could just put the octave after the dirt. Tracking might be worse (although I get great tracking going Supercollider -> OC-2) but since the octave generates a clean synthesized octave down from your fuzz tone you will get a very similar sound to the blending scenario.

It would work but not the way you describe. The LS-2 would only be need to but signals back together.
