Boss LS-2 troubles

Hi,
I bought an LS-2 a few days ago after reading up on it (I thought). My idea was that I should be able to both blend clean with my distortion pedal and send that to my amp, while at the same time tapping the other loop send to record the clean also.

Inserting a cable into the send automatically kills the clean unfortunately... Is this kind of setup simply not possible with the LS-2, or has anyone done a mod on it to support it? I'd rather it mixed in the other loop only if a plug is inserted in the return!

Is there a single pedal that does this kind of setup? Blender + DI basically...

Thanks!
Jens

In A+B Mix mode you can blend the effects in one loop with your clean tone by leaving the 2nd loop empty (when empty the input goes straight to the output). The LS-2 only processes the 2 signals, it's does not have a 'dry through' so if you want a clean you need to leave a loop empty, or have everything in one loop bypassed.

For your particular requirements I don't think it'll work.
Also, and you may need to correct me, but the LS-2 mutes at the input to a loop, not the output, so the signal would be muted to any DI within the loop.

Makes sense... I was hoping there would be a workaround or something, looks like I'll be buying another box!

Thanks for the reply,
Jens

As a cheap solution, you could put an ABY in your clean loop. Send one output to the return on the LS-2 and the other to your recording equipment.

Yeah, it'll have to be something like that I guess...

I should be able to split it before the LS-2 as well with the ABY, right?

Cheers,
Jens

Yes, you could put the ABY before the LS-2, send one output straight to your recording setup and one to the LS-2, then do the clean blend trick with the LS-2.

You can get ABY pedals really cheap as well. I use the EHX Switchblade+, but you can find cheaper ones out there, or even build your own.

Oooo, the Switchblade+ is not too expensive here in town, might give that one a try. Thanks for the tip!

Cheers,
Jens
