Boss MB 20B or 3 pedals?

Hello,
New to effects. I was thinking of getting a chorus, compression, and overdrive pedal. Then I saw the above and wondered if it might be a good idea. I can get it on Ebay for around $125.00 used to $175.00 new. 3 pedal would cost me arounf $150.00 used and $200.00 plus new. Informed opinions greatly appreciated. I play R&R, R&B, Blues, and Pop mainly. Thanks!

Welcome to the world of FX my friend. Let me tell you about my experiences, since that is more of a personal decision. I started out using a Boss GT-6B, which I like and still have, but just found myself not liking the 'digitalness' of it. So I didn't use FX for a while. Then I got into pedals and have been using them since. I love the tweakability of the individual pedals that I did not have with the processor. So my recommendation would be the pedals.

BTW, most of what I use is Boss stuff, with others thrown in.

As the last reply suggests you just have to try and let your ears be the judge, obviously if you like the ME 20B then it is going to be easier to cart around to gigs than a few pedals. I have the ME 50B and since buying it I have been replacing the effects I needed with a single pedal for each- just better sounding to me. Different manufacturer's pedals can be very different sounding even if they are supposed to do the same thing.

I didnt like the compression on the BOSS at all and that was the first thing I replaced with a DEMETER Compulator, for the overdrive I also found sucked out the bottom end so I bought an EBS Valvedrive - both great pedals..

I had a multi-effect pedal way back when. Now I only use individual boxes. The way I see it, you can get one pedal, that is desiged to do many things okay. Or a few individual pedals that do their respective things VERY well. It cost me a bit more, but in the end, I'm much happier with my sound.
