Boss ME-50B compared to the ME-8B?

Just been thinking about messing around with my sound lately. I heard that the ME-6B and ME-8B were what Stuart Zender used live. I was just curious as to whether the ME-50B was similar in quality.

I'd mostly want it for just the compression and filters. My amp covers any distortion I need. And I have real synths if I feel the need for that.

Is it overkill just to get it for the compression and filters? Should I look somewhere else for that?

I searched but didn't see any comparisons between the 50 and the 6 of the 8...

I have the ME-6B and I bought it because of Zender. Honestly, I have been quite disappointed with the modulations/delays/reverbs/compression/distortion, they synths are hard to get to track well, and the only great effect was the envelope filter, which he used the most.

I have the ME-50B and I think it's a great unit for certain things. The compressor is decent, but not very tweakable, but other wise the effects are very good, minus the synths. The distortions, especially, are very good.

The only problem I have with the ME-50b is that it is not a true bypass when you aren't looking to add effects, and it really knocks your true bass sound down. If it does have a true bypass channel, please tell! Thanks!
