Boss ME-50B enough for metal?

Sign in to disble this ad
I am possibly joining one or two of my friend's metal bands who have had issues with bass players and i would like to know before hand is i do join his band(s) will a Boss ME-50B be good for metal. It has a couple distortion and overdrive settings but its the only distortion/overdrive I've ever really tested with a bass and I'm not sure if its considered good distortion/overdrive. So will it be good for metal or should i save up for a distortion or overdrive pedal? also is there a difference between distortion and overdrive? if so what is it?
PS sorry for sounding stupid

All that matters, is that YOU are happy with it. No one else will know the difference, and yes, there is a difference between o/d and distortion. Think of o/d as a mild crunch, distortion as a heavy crunch, and fuzz as all out crunch.

Of course it's good for metal. it's got a good variety of distortion effects and it easy to find what kind of distortion effect you like.

I like clean bass for metal just drop tuned with the low eq'ed guitars it cuts and sounds great think early system of a down. But if you have to use pedals the black russian big muff is a good fuzz choice. I love mine.
