Boss ME-6B & ME-8B, really that great?

I have been doing some research about these oldies and people usually commented positively on these processors. I'm looking for a multi-effects processor that can provide a nice compressor, great synths & envelope filters and an average fuzz (that I'll probably use rarely). I don't really need flanger or etc., but you know, it's always nice to know that you can use a <put effect name here> effect when you want to.

Now, does the fact that Stu Zender used these live create a psychological domination over the fellowship of the bass, or these units are really great, especially for their price? Or would you suggest an analog setup consisting of 4-5 pedals?

All the best

Some effects are indeed great (synths mostly), some are decent and some just plain suck.
Like with most multis you can't expect all features to e top notch.

Sure, and like I mentioned; compressor, synths & envelope filters are the important stuff for me.

I think its great as a simple multi effect that gives you a good couple effects that are great for its price (i got mine for $75), but compared to modern multi effects, its difficult to say. the delay is very precise and sounds great, though with a tap temp it would be amazing. the reverb works great, chorus sounds good, eqs pretty good, but the compressor is well to straight foward and the distortions arent the best.

i would buy it if i were interested in getting a few quality effects for a cheap price, but if the compressor was better and the distortions a little different i see no reason to pass one up

the ME6-b is a good multi. I use it in church on some songs ( the envelope filter & comp.) A well made pedal IMO
