I've never actually seen inside an MT-2 but modifying dirt pedals for low end retention is quite common practice. I'm assuming alot of the components are SMT but I'm guessing there's a few capacitors that aren't; probably polys and electrolytics. Loss of low end is normally caused by these capacitors (in most cases).

As I have no experience with an MT-2, I can't tell you which caps to swap but if you double the value of the input cap that's normally a good start. Anything past that, I can't comment on a pedal I know next to nothing about.

EDIT: Robert Keeley's MT-2 mod seems to do what you're looking for: http://www.robertkeeley.com/product.php?id=16

The Keeley mod puts a lot of the lows back in.

Humphey did the mods on mine. It's definitely got low end, although the lows don't feel as focused and tight as I'd prefer them to be.

I noticed you're in Fontana, which is not too far from me. If you wanna try out a Keeley MT-2, send me a PM and we can make arrangements to meet up or I can drop it by. Maybe Sam Ash at the Mills or something.
