Boss NS-2 Powers Other Pedals?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been interested in one of these for some time and the Boss site says it can power other pedals. That's all it says, no detail on the page or manual, all it says is there's a DC In, Out. Anyone have any experience daisey chaining other pedals to the NS-2?

It can be done, just like with a LS-2 or TU-2.
I never understood the appeal for such solutions. A proper daisy chain is much more practical.

+1 I just checked my TU2 and it's output is rated at 200mA, that's not much juice, especially if you're trying to drive a chain with power hungry pedals.

A OneSpot with a daisy chain and a collection of useful converter tips will cost you between $25-30 USD. Well worth the investment and piece of mind.

I do it. It works fine, and I have no issues with the NS-2 powering multiple pedals, all working at one time. I have no idea what the output on the thing is, but it runs my CFH wah, Boss flanger, Aria phaser, and Visual Sound chorus, simultaneously and without any voltage drop, power starvation, or loss of headroom.

I have a one-spot on my short-term list, though, because it's a bit more versatile; the Boss daisy-chain cable is useless for my RAT or DOD pedals; the One-spot has an array of adaptors for various pedal types available.

EDIT: It seems that the power available for output is entirely dependant on what power you're giving the NS-2. I use a 500 milliamp supply for it, so it works fine. If I used a standard 200 milliamp wall wart, I could see having power problems.

The NS-2 only pumps out 200ma for other pedals.

This information is wrong, period. The owner's manual recommends that 200ma maximum NOT be exceeded when using the PSA adaptor. It ups the "recommended" current draw to 700ma when using the RPW.

It does not list a "maximum," since it doesn't supply power, it passes it through from an existing adaptor. That's why you need an adaptor to use the power supply function. It won't work on battery power.
