I know there's an OC-2 setting on the OC-3, but I couldn't tell you anything else.

from what ive heard the oc-3's oc-2 setting doesnt do the synthy gritty sound as well as the oc-2...and im not looking for something that complex. i just want 1 octave down that i can do a completely wet signal

Asked something similar to this myself, no joy.

Looking for a pedal to do the Boss OC-2 tone?

POG.
you have input vol. sub vol. and octive up vol. so you can adjust levels how you want them.

so just crank your sub knob and have the input/octive up knobs off.

It sounds like you want an OC-2, so just get an OC-2. They turn up used all the time and they're common enough to keep prices sensible.

Yea, the EHX pedal does get somewhat synthy, but it is kinda confusing cause it is actually tracking issues.

My OC-2 is incredible. I use it octave down only, not dry signal, and I love it.

I've got both EHX Octave Multiplexer & OC2.

Neither track brilliantly, you do have to adjust your technique somewhat when using them.

Though, personally I find the Octave Multiplexer to track marginally better & a bit more 'forgiving'. Also less 'warbly' on long notes.

I also prefer the sound of the EHX pedal more, I too find it more 'synthy' , perhaps more warm & raw than the OC2, which I think maybe has a more 80's sound. It also has an interesting 'sub' switch on it which gives square wave fuzz sound, which some find useable.

However, it does have a bit of a level drop when blend control is biased more in favour of the octave down, rather than 50/50. I've seemed to accept this by using a boost after the pedal when going for the sub-synth sound.

Both are good pedals, depends on what sound you're after I guess & how much space you've got on your pedalboard - those EHX pedals aren't small, but they do (IMHO) look cooler!

All the best & good luck with your search
Nick

The OC-2 sounds quieter when you solo the -1 octave too. Or at least mine does, and the one I had before this one did it too. I make up for it by running it in one side of an LS-2.

I'm going to dig mine out, just out of curiousity & try it.

*You're right it does - buggar!

Gotta be the EHX Octave Multiplexer then, purely for the warm tone.

Nick, Do you have the big Octave Multiplexer or the new XO one? If you have the big one, does anyone now if the small one has the volume drop issue?

I have a fairly old, big EHX O.M.

However, the review here on XO, pretty much sums up the model I have too

Guess I work round it, because I love the tone of this beast!
