Boss OC-2 Octaver vs. Octave

Sign in to disble this ad
I just found out that the OC-2 built in Tiawan is the Octave and the one built in Japan is the Octaver. Any, I searched for a comparison between the two and came up empty handed.

There is a significant difference in price between the two pedals. Is there a significant difference in tone or quality?

Unless you're selling an OC-2 "Octaver" in which case it has a magical quality that the "Octave" just doesn't have. Almost indescribable. Completely indescribable, actually.

Thank you for the replies.

I found both at a local shop last night. $40 for the Octave and $100 for the Octaver. The Taiwan built pedal was in better shape so I bought that one thinking I could take it back if it didn't work well and get the high priced (overpriced?) one.

Bottomline is the Octave works pretty well and I'm pleased with it.

The Boss Area is the equivalent of the old mystic atop the mountain when it comes to Boss pedals. A quick search there reveals that the only difference is the extra "r".

All OC-2's are the exact same circuit with the exact same tone no matter where they were made or whether it has the imfamous extra "R"

Saying that though I own an old Japanese OC-2
