Boss OC-3 Octave battery life...

Sign in to disble this ad
Wassup Fellaz (and Ladies),
Does anyone else feel like this pedal just sucks up a battery like a mofo? I do all the "to do's" on pedals like unplugging the jack when note in use, etc... But I swear when I first got mine a few months back 2 consecutive Duracells lasted maybe 2 gigs each - maybe 5 hours total each.

Am I crazy? I use an adapter now but still, it's nice to just bring the pedal by itself.

My Crybaby has had the same battery for months now and I use that more than the OC-3.

Thanks.

OC-3 = digital

Digital usually = high current draw

High current draw = short battery life

There's your explanation.

Digitech pedals are the most frightening examples of this. They kill batteries in a mere few hours.

Analog pedals, especially analog overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedals, tend to be the most battery-friendly pedals on Earth. But as you work your way up to complex effects and digital effects, the average current draw is much higher.
