Boss ODB-3 Wampler Indy mod

I bought Brian Wampler's book & did the Indy mod to my ODB-3.

1st change adds mids, warmth, and fullness
2nd change Adds low mids
3rd change Remove shrill highs
4th change smoother distortion

I put it back together after each of the 4 changes Brian suggested & tested it .... here is my impression:

The first thing I did was the mod to remove shrill highs ... if you have a ODB-3 this is a "must have" IMHO ... huge different for the better.

the 1st & 2nd mods def warm it up but to tell the truth the jury still out on the mod that adds mids, warmth, and fullness (1st)
it makes it sound a little farty to me ... there is a 2nd option for this area that I have not tried yet.

The 4th mod I didn't like at all ... I like the clipping of the stock LEDs much better than the suggested changes.

I'll get some sound samples as soon as I get time

I love the ODB-3 stock, it's a little noisey but other than that it's just killer when dialed in, imo. thanks for the honest opinion on the mods.

I have done that mod and been very happy with the outcome. I was looking to calm down the distortion to be closer to an over drive, and was therefore happier with the diode clipping over the LED clipping. However, now that I own a GeminiDrive I am strongly considering converting it back to the LED or at least adding a switch so I can have both at hand.

What I have:

C10 0.033 microF change to 1 or 2.2 microF => adds mids warmth and fullness
R31 3.3K change to 1K => adds low mids
C8 300pf change to 0.001 microF => removes shrill highs (for me as well this worked very well)
d2, d3 from red LED change to 1N4148 diodes => Changing diodes to 4148 will yield less distortion, and more clean tone coming through, though a bit smoother. (personally I would play around with this one and try different diodes or combinations; for further thoughts on this google some RAT mods)

I think moding this pedal is the best way to get into modifying and building pedals.
Good Luck

I've been trained to use proper soldering techniques but i still have little experience building circuits. I think i'll give your list of mods a shot! a sound demo would be appreciated
