It was the first pedal I bought when I started playing bass. I didn't like it.

It does have a good deal of adjustability, but it's strictly a heavily distorted sound.

I, personally, don't dig the sound or how over-the-top it is, but some people really do.

Do a search and see what the other threads say about it (there's plenty of info here), and try it out yourself; everyone carries boss pedals in-store.

the search function will give you many a good result. This pedal is frequently spoken of here.

Just out of curiousity, what exactly was the point of this?

I think that was a way of describing the sound produced by the ODB-3.

Well, I don't like the ODB-3 either.

To the OP, try one out in the store, if you like it then it's okay.
But there are a lot of better altenatives for overdrive.

I like my Ibanez Phat Hed,... to my taste.

Sansamp is also something to try out.

Ginger just had a nervous breakdown from the lack of effort invested by the OP to find answers on a pedal that's been discussed for years here.

I usually observe a "be nice to the newbie" policy and suggest others do the same, but clearly Mr. Conor is at the end of his rope. A rope with a noose on it.

I've always been of the philosophy that you should actually play the pedal before you buy it, and this especially holds true for OD/fuzz/distortion pedals. Just browsing a few pages of the "Post your pedalboard" thread can show you the huge diversity there are in these effects.

tl;dr, demo/"rent" it before you buy it.
