my sis used to play guitar and she left me this boss distortion pedal before she went to college. my question is do all boss pedals work on bass as well?, not just the ones that say bass in there name

Yes they all work with bass

however all pedals, not just boss, tend to vary in their ability handle the low frequencies of bass. So, it will definitely work however it may suck out your low end depending on what pedal it is. For example a Boss DS-1 distortion takes my low end away but the Boss ODB-3 maintains it very well and can even add more because it is made for bass.

Lots of people (myself included) use various pedals on bass that are "traditionally" made for guitar. Myself, I use a MXR phaser, Boss (bf-2) flanger, and very soon will be using a Digitech Whammy (sorry but I'm not about to spend $600+ on the Bass Whammy)...so why not?

I am borrowing a DS-1 from my guitarist. I only messed around with it for 10 minutes so far but I am liking the results so far. I am thinking of getting one my self. I figure its cheap and if I finally notice that it sounds like crap...I can always go out and get something else.

hmm... Boss CH1, Boss TR-2, Ibanez TS5, EHX LBM, EHX POG... I LOVE these pedals on bass, but guess what? they were made to use with a guitar.

If you're worried about breaking any part of your equipment by using the pedal, you wont
