Boss PH-3 Phaser Soundclips

Sign in to disble this ad
Recorded a few clips with the PH-3 last night.
I don't use phaser that much, but since this pedal is here...

It has 4, 8, 10 and 12 stages and a fall, rise and step function.

IMO, the step stage is useless for bass.
Of course you can use almost everything to create wacky sounds...

When used, overdrive is from a Boss OD-3.

And two more clips I just did.

This pedal is quite fun to play with!

Doesn't this phaser have a "step" function? If so, can you post clips?

Cool clips. Have you added them to the Wiki?

Not yet.
I'm planning on adding them tonight, after uploading some other clips.

I have been using the phaser with bass for a while now. It is actually a really good phaser imo. I am not usually a huge boss fan but this pedal is great.

I'm not a phase fan, but this pedal seduced me.

i liked the boss ph-3 clips. they sound good but the pedal has no level knob so i dont know about the volume drop issues and if it gets lost in the band mix. any comments here?

I didn't notice any volume loss.
Most of the settings I've tried were very noticeble at band rehearsal.
Some settings, fo course, weren't.
I like his pedal a lot.
I prefer this to my old phase 90.

i think this is my least favorite phaser out there =/

it does sound better on bass than on guitar, ill give it that though. (a little more subtle on bass i think)

does anyone else think it sounds kinda flange-ish?

I always think it's interesting how different people's tastes are. The PH-3 is my favorite phaser of the ones I've had or tried for a substantial amount of time (to wit: MXR Phase 90, Tonefactor Nebula, Subdecay Quasar, Nano Small Stone, Pigtronix EP-1, & HBE Psilocybe). Also, I'm guessing that the reasons I like it are the same reasons that others hate it - the digital, non-organic sounds and the "gimmicky" step phasing.

Different strokes for different folks.

Yes, I do realize how old this thread is, but I've been looking at phasers (just the PH-3 and the phase 90) and these soundclips have me sold!
