Boss PQ3B - worth 150?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I'm considering purchasing a Boss PQ3B. I've heard a lot of very nice things about this pedal, and the seller is asking for 150. Think it's worth -that- much? All of the Harmony Central reviewers who posted their purchase price listed it around 70~80. 'course that was a few years ago.

As far as my current set up goes, I play an '86 4001 through an Ampeg BA115 for smaller gigs and various rented/borrowed rigs for larger venues. I'm trying to get a little more control over my tone, especially when it comes to playing through the combo. The EQ on the BA115 is a -bit- limiting, as is the one other EQ I have access to, on my Pandora 3XB headphone amp/swiss army knife.

Thoughts?

Nahh... that's too much for that pedal. If you can swing the higher $$, the Empress Parametric EQ is actually worth its price. If you don't need that much control, but just more flexibility than you currently have, then check out the Barber Linden EQ.

I can vouch for the Linden. Very clean and natural eq, though clean doesn't mean "uncolored" in this case. But it is warm, analog, and tasty to my ears. A good match to your Ric and Ampeg.
