Anybody using this combination?
I tried plugging my Roland expression pedal in (a passive expression pedal) and it didn't do anything. I tried it in various modes, and couldn't get a response.
Do I need a Boss expression pedal? What am i overlooking?

| | | | how strange, i guess the thing that could be wrong is the pot resistance may be wrong on your roland for your ps-5
check the manual, see what it's supposed to do (as far as troubleshooting goes)

"2. Set the EV-5’s minimum volume to
the lowest value (0) on the PS-5.
* Failure to set the minimum volume properly
will alter the degree of pitch shift, which can
cause the PS-5 to function improperly."
| Maybe that's it... I did notice the dial on the side of the EV-5, and assumed it was to adjust tension on the treadle (D'oh!). I know it was set somewhere in the middle or higher (definitely not on zero).

What has been said, however, is that there is a different (and limited) range of things you can do with a PS-5 in terms of expression pedal usage than a PS-3 or a Digitech Whammy. You can only go from your normal tone to a semitone of choice; you can't shift from one semitone to another, like you could with a PS-3 or Whammy.
