Boss RC-20XL Loop Pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone own this? Thoughts? I am getting one this weekend...trading some stuff for one.

Does it only loop or does it delay as well? I have a Boss DD-6 Pedal for delay so no biggie if it doesn't.

Any signal loss from loop to loop? Meaning...will my bass signal be lower on the loops or the same volume?

Thanks guys.

Don't think it can but the Line6 DL4 can handle both jobs - not sure if it's looping is as flexible as the BOSS though. But try both out if you're going to a store to get one.

I've also been thinking of getting one of these though, and I have a question for any owners that may be attracted to this thread. I'd like to use it to record some loops and keep them in time if the drummer changes tempo by using the tap tempo pedal. Has anyone here used it live like this and does it work well?

The RC-20xl is not a delay. It has input vol and output vol so you can set the loop to unity gain or make it quieter or louder than the original signal. One thing that I wish it had is a dry out like Boss' DD-3 etc.
I haven't messed around with the tap tempo and I've only used it with a drummer once. It has a "quantize" function to make the loop fit an adjustable number of beats and tempo. I think this is where the tap tempo would come in handy. I gave up on the guide beat, quantize, tempo stuff because it was pretty complicated to set for an odd meter like 7/8. I'm sure you could work it out though. That stuff just hasn't been important to me thus far.
Also, with the 11 loops that can be stored you could set it up ahead of time for a song and adjust the tempo with the tap for performance.

Thanks Swift...that sounds pretty cool.

I used to have a Line 6 DL-4 and I sold it to the first person that would buy it. I bought it as a loop pedal and it would only loop about 14 seconds worth of music...which is horrible. It has some OK delay effects...but I was getting it more for the loop capabilities...

I used to have the RC-20 and now I ve "downsized" to the new smaller RC-2. Both great pedals and does the job either on live shows or just for practice. Ofcourse there is no delay in them, and the volume is as high as you record them to be. Have fun with it!

I use my RC-20 for guitar but I really dig it. Better than the RC-2 for me because you can record a loop, stomp on the right pedal to turn it off, stomp on the left pedal to start it from the beginning again. Essential for having a loop play during the chorus of a song but not during the verse, for instance. It also has a great reverse feature.
