I'm wondering if this is a decent unit for the price ($499 at Guitar Center) or if there is something out there similar that will let me play layers of bass lines, etc. Thanks mon.

Unless you need a MIDI connection, there are lots of cheaper units out there... Use the search function!

I think the RC-50 has 3 separate loops available at once. There are many phrase sampler's out there that are less expensive with just one loop available at any given time. The RC-20xl does fine and you can switch between 11 loops but only play/record one at a time. I think they're going for about $250 now. There are others which have more delay features as well.
