I have a Boss RC-50 that has seen a lot of use over the last year and a half or so, but recently has developed an issue with the 'Stop' footswitch that is getting progressively worse. I moved to Ableton a while back and the RC-50 is now used by the guitarist/keyboardist, so its been used only once or twice a week for a few hours at a time in the last 6 months. The 'Stop' has two functions: stopping scenes, and when held down for 2 seconds it erases the selected scene. Physically, the footswitch appears to be in perfect shape as do the rest of them.
A few months ago the 'Stop' footswitch started acting up and would occasionally take two attempts at erasing a track, though it would stop the scene without issue; as of a month ago, stopping a scene often took a couple attempts, and 50% of the time it would require multiple attempts to get it to erase; now its like a busted NES system and every time you want to stop, or worse yet erase a scene, you have to push it up, down, side, side..a b select, blow on it through your shirt, etc... or something like that- basically it takes about a minute to stop/erase and this is a big problem.
The footswitches look pretty easy to open up, but before I start taking things apart and spraying stuff ('dust off' or something?), I'd like to see what others thought. If anyone can offer some insight or recommendations where to begin, it would be greatly appreciated!
*edit* I just saw a thread on the boss fs5u footswitch, and Im thinking that they are the same footswitches that the RC-50 uses, therefor if anyone has any information regarding this issue with a Boss FS-5/6 etc, I think it would be relevant.
