Who uses this effect for bass?
What kind of music do you play?
Does it work as good as you expected?
I'm looking at getting/building one and I'm trying to get an idea of whether its a good fit for what I play.
Thanks.

With the right setting and touch it can simulate fretless attack, arco attack and can also work well with chords, harmonics & synth sounds to get that bloom or opening effect. |

Just play staccato notes and apply tastefully! |

I don't actually have a use for this type of effect in church, but that has never stopped me from experimenting.

Here's a clip: DivShare File - pog2 slowgear.mp3

For me the behringer works better. The bypass is better, and it just seems all around better!

| | | | I was interested in this effect myself. Bought the behringer unit, and while it could work with some very careful playing, it's far from intuitive. I bought the BYOC version expecting a more responsive pedal, but it's only slightly better. In short, you can't play those as you would an envelope filter, grooving away and expecting it to keep up. You need to be *very* methodical, carefully playing one note at a time, waiting for it to bloom, and then muting it before starting the next note. Very impractical, even if it could sound nice in some song intro or something... but not something I'd keep in my rock board.

Used the BYOC version and wasn't impressed.
Bit the bullet and bought a VFE BumbleBee; wow! cool swells and plenty of tweakability for me. |

| | | | Malekko has the AD pedal. It's the Omicron series so it's teeny tiny which is nice. Runs about $100, which is also nice.
But i still find that i would love to be able to tweek the sensitivity with an expression output since the different pitches seem to trigger differently around the neck. Does anyone know of a Slow Gear type pedal with an expression control of the sensitivity?
The Pigtronix Philosopher King has exp for the Attack and Decay times, but not Sensitivity apparently. And it's $300. |

I've owned both the behringher and built a BYOC but the POG2 wins with the attack delay and LPF. I also use my Bass Micro Synth as one (guitar up, attack delay to taste, trigger as sensitivity, keep other voices off and start+stop at 5) |
