BOSS Super Feedbacker & Distortion

Sign in to disble this ad
So my guitarist friend was showing me his pedals the other day, and one of his really cheap pedals (which was his first distortion pedal) was the Super Feedbacker & Distortion. He didn't use it anymore, and since it gives that super awesome feedback tone when you press it, I figured I could take it off his hands.

Does anyone know if this pedal is still in production? Being a grunge fan, the feedback feature contains endless possibilities for me, I'm surprised I hadn't already heard of this pedal outside of the day I got one.

Also, I heard there is a pedal called a Super Distortion & Feedbacker, are they different?

Any insight would be appreciated

Not still in production, somewhat rare as far as Boss effects go. If your buddy wants to let go of his cheap, good for you, but make sure he doesn't check ebay prices first or he'll realize he can get $100-$200 for it.

Behringer makes a clone for $40.

The two names are the same effect.

The first DF-2s was labeled "Super Distortion & Feedbacker" while the later ones was called "Super Feedbacker & Distortion". DiMarzio had already registered the name "Super Distortion" so Boss was forced changed the DF-2's name. The change took place around serial number 500000 (January 1985). Production moved to Taiwan late 1989 and was modified for the PSA adapter from early 1991.
The DF-2 was sold from September 1984 to April 1994

My guitar-playing brother has used one of these as his main distortion pedal since about 1992 and it still sounds great!

IIRC, when used with a bass, it does thin out the low end, but only slightly. Nice tight & gritty distortion with some crazy-cool feedback sounds. That was a good pedal!

The distortion is a fairly plain jane diodes-to-ground affair, like a Rat. I'd look elsewhere if you're looking for a good distortion. The "feedback" (basically a square wave that sort of tracks pitch) is the only reason to get one of these IMO.

I use one on bass... It is the old DS-1 cercuit and it sounds great for grunge! I couldn't find a good price in the UK so ordered it from america!

Check out Hum... Their guitarist uses one. It is an awesome pedal!
