Boss SYB-3 problem

Sign in to disble this ad
I scored a "vintage" pink label Boss SYB-3 synth pedal off the 'bay and it arrived three days ago. I stuck a new 9v in it, added it to my signal chain, and reveled in the juicy synth fatness. For two days, it was rockin'. (Satisfied that the pedal was as advertised I went ahead and left positive feedback on the transaction.) I plugged in this morning, fired it up -- and all it did was suck out half my volume. No synth sounds on any setting. The check light was burning bright, but I went ahead and plugged in an adaptor; still nada. Signal was moving through it just fine when bypassed, but just to be redundant I took everything else out of my signal chain, switched around patch cables, all the usual process-of-elimination stuff. No dice.

Anyone had this issue, or have any idea what may have gone wrong and/or what the fix, if any, might be? I'd hate to think that the sucker just died and I'm out of luck ... the seller listed it "as is" and doesn't accept returns, and it's moot anyway, I'd guess, since I already left good feedback.
