boss syb-5 question

is it possible to remove the filter from the octave down effect so that you are left with just a clean octave-down sound à la the digitech bass synth wah's octasub mode?

The BSW is a filter pedal, with the ability to create an octave down from the raw signal.

In modes 1 through 9 on the SYB-5, the sound is not a filtered version of the raw input like on the BSW, but instead is a triggered oscillator, which follows the pitch of the input signal. The octave down of modes 2 and 5 is derived from the oscillator (sawtooth and square respectively), not the raw signal.

However, if the sound of the oscillator without filter movement is good enough for you, you can max the Decay/Rate knob, and then set the filter/resonance controls to whatever you want, like a cocked wah pedal with a bit more control.

Yeah you can turn the sweep off on settings 2 and 5, but you can't get just the octave down unless to use a seperate pedal to lowpass it
