Boss SYB-5 synth

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a Boss SYB-5 Synth pedal off of craigslist and I'm pretty sure it's not working right. I don't have any experience with this synth pedal but the effect keeps getting cut off very quickly on the higher strings, and most of the time is completely inaudible on the G string. It sounds as if it's hitting some sort of compressor/limiter but I am not running any. Am I doing something wrong or did I just buy a defective pedal?

First, as with any synth/octave pedal, you must play extemely clean- one note at a time. And it's best to solo the neck pickup too. Technique is paramount. An expression pedal will bring that pedal to life, (Roland EV-5). Also, read the manual.

Are you playing at a low volume?
