Boss TU-2 vs. Korh Pitchblack

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys! Sorry if this has been posted before, but I did a search and couldn't find anything specific enough.

Anyways, I'm looking for an affordable tuner, preferably in pedal form, that is guaranteed to be accurate. I was looking at the Boss TU-2, because I know that it's one of the more commonly used ones out there, but I read in a couple reviews and in one TB thread that it's actually not as accurate as a lot of others. I heard some good things about the Korg pedal while browsing through tuner threads, and so I'm wondering which would be better for me.

Thanks!

The Pitchblack is objectively more accurate. I've used a TU-2 for a long time and I still think it's a good pedal but if I were choosing now I'd get the Korg, I mean they cost about the same. Looks cool too.

Korg all the way. I sold my TU-2 to get Pitchblack and haven`t regretted. IMO everything is slightly better done in Korg than in TU-2, it is even a bit smaller. But the most important thing is that it reminds me about K.I.T.T. and David Hasseldorf in Knight Rider.

the korg is more accurate but I have been using the TU-2 for about 4 years and I've never really had a big problem. If I had to get another tuner I would probably go for the korg.

Pitchblack is the most reliable and fastest tuner I've ever seen/had.
It can tune to a low G FAST! Like ridiculously fast...but who tunes to G anway besides DEFTONES?
Seriously though...invest. It's worth it!

I've owned two TU-2s for years. Just got a Korg Pitchblack a couple of weeks ago, and it blows them away for tuning accuracy and speed, especially for low notes. Get the Pitchblack!

I used the TU-2 for years, but replaced it with a Pitch Black a few months ago. It's definately a step up.

I've owned both, I prefer the pitch black. Thought the next tuner I buy will be a ST-200 Stomp Box Strobe Tuner

The Boss TU-2 is a good pedal has been the standard pedal for decades. I gotta admit it's mostly tradition that makes most people keep buying them over other pedals. (And yes, I know there's other reasons, too.) Most famous musicians have it on their board, so other people see it and assume it's the best. Even the older Korg DT-10 was a more accurate pedal, though I'm sure its chunkiness prevented a lot of people from converting. The Pitchblack is a great pedal and I would definitely get it over the TU-2, but that doesn't make the TU-2 a bad pedal by any means.

One should probably take 'piece of gear A is not as good as piece of gear B' discussions on TalkBass with a grain of salt. Most of the time, its opinion. And the other time its usually like comparing steak from Mortons with steak from Ruth's Chris. Which ever one is better, its all good steak.

Unless gear A has a blue LED. Then its better.
