Boss twin pedals Functonality?

Well here I am thinking back to my line6 DL4 and how I used the expression pedal to blend between 2 settings in a given memory bank. I found that entirely useful and a great creative tool.

I've been looking at the Boss twin Pedals online and haven't been able to figure out if the expression and control pedal features will allow me the same functionality and flexibility of the Line6 pedal line.

I am hesitant to use the Line6 pedals as they are huge and don't sound all that great IME.

If it comes down to me having $300 for a delay I want to make sure that it wouldn't be spent best on the space echo or gigadelay.

any help?

My old DL4 was great and didn't break...
...but I'm hesitant to get another one as there are sturdier effects on the market.
