I went from a zoom b2 to the me 20b. The zoom to me was a pain to program. The boss is simple to use and to MY ears, blows the zoom out of the water. Its all subjective tho...

I like the Zoom sounds better than the Boss, to me the Boss is more generic sounding and the B9ut is very well thought of.

I recently rec'd the Zoom unit you're talking about, the Zoom b9.1ut. I have had the Boss Me50 and Me20. If you like simplicity, stick with Boss. The Zoom unit has better sounding effects in my opinion but unfortunatley with that comes lots of fiddling. The Boss units are just so simple to operate. The Zoom is built well, sounds great and has endless possibilties if you don't mind taking the time to dive in.

Redmustng65, the zoom processor that you're thinking of is the zoom b9.1ut. and the zoom b9.1ut would be a good choice if you want more variety in effects. if you want more variety, the zoom processor that you're thinking about would be a good choice.

Stay with Boss. The Zoom is OK, but I think Boss's effects are of better quality. If the tube means that much to you, you can add an A.R.T. Tube MP to your setup, and they can be had for $50.00 or less.

Having owned both the Boss GT-10b and now the Zoom B9.1ut, I have to say I prefer the Zoom all the way. The Boss was indeed easier to program out of the box, but I found the tone voicing’s weak in comparison to the Zoom. It took me a bit of time to, as someone already said, "dig into" the zoom to find the sound/tone I was hoping to for... but the time was well worth it. It's aluminum construction is sturdy and strong... I don't feel like it's going to break down on me and it's already equipped with a tube of which you can control the gain of the tube or solid state or any combination of both for a nice array of tone possibilities.
I'm quite happy with mine and if it ever broke, and unless someone wanted to outfit me with a full EBS setup.. I would definitely buy another one.

I own a bunch of these type gizmos for IEM/DI.

Zoom takes a bit more to program, has more options and less of a "toy"

I don't believe in "in your face" bass effects... the zoom has more nuance controls.
