Bought or Made Your Pedalboard?

Just curious.

Also, I'm looking for some advice/comments if you'd care to share.

What are your thoughts on what an ideal boards layout should be, as in: flat, slanted, or back part raised? In my opinion it depends on the size/shape of your pedals, and how much flexibility you want, and of course personal preference.

I'm planning on making a board soon, a little unsure how I want to lay it out. I'm thinking of raising the back half over an inch for easy access to the stomp button without accidently moving a knob on the lower pedals, also I could than run cable underneath.

The downside to this I see is that the board will be a bit heavier, and also thicker (captain obvious!) According to my calculations it'll probably be about 19"x14". Is there certain board sizes that are easier to find a suitcase/briefcase etc that'll fit nicely?

I know there are other threads about boards, but if you have any advice on things to think about BEFORE starting to make your board, fire away

Pretty simple pedals, but if you have any advice on chain feel free..I'm thinking:
bass
tuner
sansamp
fulltone
blender>muff
amp

I make my own since I don't like doing the pedal dance on flat boards. This one will be four levels high once it's done but I think you can see the basic layout now. It'll have eight outlets total under the rear level and two VooDoo Lab PP2+s underneath as well. And it's light....Right now it weighs less than 6 pounds with the outlets on it at 32" x 20".

The rear tier is raised 4.5 inches above the base, just enough for power supplies and wall warts to fit comfortably.

I built my first board. It sucked. Bought a PT-Pro pretty cheap. Now I buy pedals to fill it up.

That's the trap we all fall into. It's hard to leave those spaces empty! I still have to fill one space in my rack, and keep changing my mind about what to put in there.

I'm in the middle of building my own board.

Once it's finished I am having a cedar case / box built for it.

Will it be heavy? Yeah, but so is my head and the 8X10 cab I drag around with me.

I made mine. old suitcase to carry it. The board itself is made of this orange upholstery stuff that my dad and i found at the fabric store. We were carrying the velcro around, seeing what it best adhered to.
