Best advice I can give is keep your eye open for a used wilson wah. I've got the freaker and love it to bits. I picked mine up for around $140, but would have happily paid full price for it. Check out their website, they have a few different choices.

quite few people here build custom pedals.

the closest thing i can think of to a club would be here: DIY Effect Makers (club?). Drop a message in there and someone will see it to reply. There a bunch of people who make DIY pedals, and maybe a few of them can make you one or point you in the right direction for someone who can.

Boutique comes with a high price tag. Dunlop cry-baby bass wah is a good, sturdy pedal within your price range. You can get them modded pretty easily and they have trim pots inside for you to fool with. Not the best wah on the market... but they're built tough and work relatively well for their price.

Definitely Wilson, best wahs I've ever played. My Freaker Wah is here for life. A lot of people around here also love his 12-position Q-Wah.

People like me. Wilson makes possibly the most bass friendly/functional wah's, at least amongst those that I have used.
