Box/Enclosure mods

I want to swap effect boxes. My wife is a very good visual artist and all that crap, so I want to move the circuits and knobs and all the guts of my effects pedals to plain metal cases.

(the sort that can be found here storeenclosures)

My question is:
Is this reasonable? I have a bunch of Boss pedals and a few EHX.

The EHX pedals look pretty simple if I can safely remove the guts, but will the switching (or anything else) be problematic with the Boss pedals?

Do you guys see any other problems with this idea?

I'm assuming she will be decorating the new boxes is this correct?
If so, why not just refinish their existing boxes?

Yeah, she will decorate the new boxes.

I've thought about sanding out and priming all my current boxes. However, I also thought this would be a good opportunity to create Mountain Dew levels of X-treme uniformity on my board.

If it's not too stupid of an idea.

+1 unless they are the Boss type enclosure and you wanted to go more "boutique" looking...

I think it is a fing great idea.

You can get plain boxes for pretty cheap. Make sure you have access to a good drill press and be SUPER CAREFUL when you mark your boxes.

Then paint them (or whatever your are gonna do). You should be able to put the guts back in fairly easily.

I love the idea of custom artwork on pedals.
