Did you ask Korg? Since it's digital you'll have a harder time finding someone to do the work for you if it is possible, but I think going to the manufacturer would be your best bet- They can tell you for sure I would think.

First off, he made that number up. He has no idea whether it can be fixed or how much it would cost, I guarantee you that. That's just something you always hear from a seller when there's something broken: "I'm sure it's an easy fix, you could fix it yourself with a $5 part, or a tech should be able to fix it pretty cheaply". They say this even if the circuitboard is a blob of black molten slag or (in the case of a bass) if the neck is twisted like a pretzel. If it was that cheap or easy to fix, and if they stood to gain hundreds of dollars by selling it fully functional, they would have fixed it themselves.

That said, maybe it's just something super simple like a bad power jack. Happens all the time, usually easy to fix. You never know. All I'm saying is, clearly he doesn't know. Do you feel like gambling?

Given that it's digital, it could be a nightmare to fix, especially since it's been out of production for so long. Who knows what might be broken or fried?

This is something that would require careful inspection and testing to verify exactly what's wrong. It could be a score as easily as it could be a total loss. If you can't see it in person (and if you could, you're not comfortable with diagnosing it yourself), then it's not worth it, IMO.
