broken pedal

so...i suppose this would fall under the repair section of talkbass, seeing how its about repairing a pedal. but anyhow...

a friend of mine constructed a pedal board for me and when i got the board back (with my pedals on it), i noticed a few days later that something was wrong with my pedal.

the pedal is an mxr blowtorch, and i believe that a 1/4 cable tip snapped off and lodged itself in the output jack of the pedal. on top of that, the blue led stays on even when the pedal isnt engaged.

if anyone has experience with this pedal or any of these problems, i would greatly appreciate any assistance, as i really like the pedal and would not like to get rid of it or replace it.

The cable tip could conceivably be the cause of the LED thing, too, as it could be shorting one of the paths that powers or grounds the LED.

I'd open the box and attempt to dig out the cable tip. Some jacks are easier to access than others. Worst case scenario, you've got a completely sealed-in-a-box jack, soldered directly to the circuitboard; in that case it's kind of a big project, but still doable, if you're comfortable with soldering and you have an afternoon to kill.
