Jared you are right the manuals for both are a bit vague.
My intended purpose is to have my BOD and the Brown Dog drive the filter and have a nasty octave, filter and fuzz combo so not being able to use the Brown Dog any other way wouldn't be a problem(at least initially).
An interesting thought is that I do have the Pigtronix EP-2 and yes it does have a trigger input. So maybe I need to experiment with that, the BOD and the Brown Dog.
I do love the sound of the RoboTalk and have noticed that with my Multiwave Distortion from Source Audio that it doesn't really do the synthy sound(thought the Brown Dog might do the trick) so using the EP-2 might be my best option at this point.
Thanks for the insight Jared. You always seem to be able to put things in perspective for me and I appreciate it!!!!
I have alot of experimenting to do and I can't wait!!!!

The envelope out on the Brown Dog seems to be a clean out and the envelope in on the 00Funk seems to be an input trigger. Basically it makes it so that it is still your clean dynamics that trigger the envelope rather than the fuzzed out signal.
One quirk about it is that when connected this way you can't use the Brown Dog alone but only in conjunction with the filter.
It sounds great with the 00Funk but I'm not sure you can use it with another filter. Maybe something like the WMD or Pigtronix that has a Key/Trigger input but I can't even say that for sure.
The other issue here is that the Robotalk 2 doesn't really do the synthy fuzz/filter combo sound. To my ears it just sounds like a stuck wah and gives a "wailing" tone rather than a synthy one. Good for a Cliff Burton solo sound, but not necessarily for funky tones. |
