Building a Bass Rig

I'm looking to add some gear to my bass rig. I already have a Hartke 1000 watt amp, Furman power conditioner and a Korg DTR-1, all mounted in an SKB 6 space rack.

One thing I really need is compression, but i'm stuck on whether or not I should get a stand-alone compressor (like a Dbx 160A) or a multi-effects processor with a compressor programmed in (like a Line 6 Bass POD). Also, is it wise to add a BBE sonic maximizer to my rig?

What are your thoughts?

I have a SKB 4-spacer housing an SVT-3Pro and an Alesis NanoCompressor and I swear by it. What it does for my tone is amazing... Keeps it clean and punchy at the tail end of a long signal chain.

My signal chain goes Bass >20-foot cable> Pedalboard (Boss ODB-3>Zoom B2>CryBaby Bass Wah) >25-foot cable> NanoComp > SVT-3Pro
