Building a custom pedal for the first time....any help?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm pretty good with electronics and so I really want to make a custom pedal.

The idea is this- a reverse-octave pedal which brings me up into the same sounds as a guitar OR a 'violin' pedal which replicates the long sounds of the violin's notes.

So, does anyone have any useful advice for doing this? Any sites, books or resources would be helpful.

PS I'm doing this for a special project I'm currently working on.

I was thinking of making a pedal with the combination of the two effects on it so it's a custom job either way.

Yeah you can build either of these pedals from BYOC kits (Octave Fuzz or Lazy Sprocket) or you can find tons of different octave-up circuits at DIYstompboxes.com and probably some slowgear type circuits too.

A slowgear/octave combo would be kind cool. Good idea Fassa!

Would you add some fuzz to the octave up? At least some that you could dial in, like a blend?

I already use a fuzz pedal for my Muse tracks so I probably wouldn't need to do that. Depending on how long it takes me I might do it....it really depends.

You know, there's a pedal already out there that has both... the EHX Bass Micro Synth. They just came out with a really compact reissue of it, too.

And since when did you start visiting MY turf, anyway?
