building foot switches into a stomp box?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just spent the afternoon modifying my Boss RC-2 loop station to have the functions the foot switch offered on the box itself. All it took was some solder and drill press work and about 4 bucks worth of material. It was so easy that it got me wondering, could you do this on any pedal that has an input for a foot switch?

This would work on any pedal with a foot switch input, correct? Providing it has the clearance structurally of course. I didn't dig the 50 dollar price tag, lack of power switch, battery requirement and size of the FS-6; and it seems that my 4 dollar bag of switches, which came with 4 by the way, will give me the same versatility; and I have enough left over to do another!

I'm not attempting to make my own expression pedals or anything, but for a delay pedal that has an output for a tap tempo. It seems to me that I could save a bunch of pedal space doing this.

Dare I post pictures?

or if it won't all fit in the pedal itself, you can build yourself an FS-6 clone without power, (or 9v--it's just for the LED anyway) for $10 ish.

This should work just fine without a problem, as a tap tempo is just a connection of a couple wires that the pedal recognizes as on or off.
