Here is a link to BYOC Pedals. They sell clone kits if you want to try building first versus designing then building.

Good Luck!

Thanks Luvmusic! The kits are a little pricey though. I'm looking for something a little on the cheaper side. I could buy the actual real pedals for that price.

moosopotomus or something like that..

geofex

amzmusiq

pisotones.com

theres a wealth of info and at the 2 most common places, freestompboxes and diystompboxes, youll find two heavy threads about one particular bass pedal.

Cool stuff.

Here' a sampling of sites I have bookmarked. Many of the effect DIY sites have links to one another so once you've located a few you're set.

And don't forget:

Not as good in general, but often carry parts Mouser doesn't:

Id check out either the diystompboxes forum first or just buy one from General Guitar Gadgets.

Their kits are a bit cheaper then BYOC. Took me about an hour to put together the Fuzz Face kit while I was engineering a bands demo in my studio one weekend hehe.

The diystompboxes forum is the place to hang out and learn.

I'm interested in building pedals too and have been to many of these links but I have no idea how to read schematics. I have nothing against learning so it's not like I want a kit that makes it any easier I just want to know how you guys got started- I mean not all pedal builders have taken electronics classes right?

Building pedals is greta fun! I made a muff from general guitar gadgets, a byoc filter and a red llama clone. All worked great and I had a blast making them! Go for it

the thing i dont get about making pedals is all the off board wiring, i could make a PCB from a circuit diagram but the rest of the wiring i would be lost.

If you can read simple instructions, BYOC makes it possible to understand nothing about what your building, and still have a working pedal when you are done. All you need so be able to do is solder, and they have a forum that is very noob friendly.

The build instructions have pictures, so even a bass player can do it!!
