Built GGG Civil War Fuzz with Mods

Sign in to disble this ad
I like my Fuzzrocious Grey Stache but I wanted to have something lower gain. So I got a GGG kit and built it to civil war specs.

I modded it by adding a switch between silicon off led

I also added a mod (body knob) that lets me go from scooped to flat mids. Also the Volt knob controls the voltage to the circuit. It's supposed to simulate a dying battery.

I have only had a chance to run it through my practice rig. But it definitely is more open and less compressed than my Grey Stache.

More info to come.

For those wondering what the exact mods were:

Adding body: Beavis Audio Research

Adding Voltage Sag: Beavis Audio Research

Crap. I thought I was in the "For Sale" forum and was looking for a price.

Nice build! No idea how it sounds, of course, but I like the concept and the looks.

Very clean build. I don't see any melted insulation!! That's sort of a trademark in my builds.

Got the parts from Mammoth Electronics.

I got to try it with the rig tonight. Sounded fantastic. The civil war version of the muff is very bass friendly and has a nice open character to it. It's along the same line as the Grey Stache but less compressed since it doesn't have as much gain on tap.

It blows away my modded bass big muff for sure

The CW is very, very nice, but there's no way it's less compressed than the GS on the no diode or LED toggle settings .

I retract that statement. The lower gain is what makes it sound more open to me. I still love the grey stache.
