Burning out a compressor

Can you "burn out" a compressor?
No damage to mine yet, just trying to get educated.

My compressor is a Carl Martin Compressor Limiter.
(I love this thing)

My situation:
Last night I was playing around with a few delay pedals in series, a Line 6 Echo Park and a homemade Madbean Cave Dweller.

I was playing with self oscillation and weird sounds and all that sort of thing. I was running the delay's through my compressor as to get the neat sounds, but not all the uncontrollable volume increasing and popping and what have you.

My Carl Martin was pegged out for a good long time. That little LED was like a laser for just short of half an hour.

Will putting that sort of load into a comp damage it over time?

If you don't properly oil the engine and break it in, yes....

As far as a signal compressor, I doubt it.
