Buy the Line6 M9 or hold out for the Eventide pedals?

Sign in to disble this ad
Bought a Line6 M13 recently and sold it right away as it was way overkill for my needs.

Delay and mod are what I use mostly.

Just spent an hour in the local store today with the Eventide Timefactor and Modfactor pedals.

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are AMAZING.

A/B'd with a TC nova mod. Also a great pedal but the Eventide is just twice as rich and full sounding.

So, the two Eventide pedals would be at least $ 600.00 used.

But now I am ruined as to settling for lesser quality.

Anyone have opinions comparing the two?

Thanks much.

You could have traded the M13 for an M9.

Indeed....tried for a while, right here on TB. No takers. Found a local buyer and in fact while the prices are close, M9's are still lower.

Still, all of this is redundant since it is already sold, eh?

I love the M9/M13 but it sounds like the Eventide pedals work better for you. So I'd suggest holding out for the Eventide pedals. On the plus side you don't have to wait for both. You can get them one at a time.

This will sound like an over-generalization...so apologies in advance.

The Line 6 is a modeler. In my opinion, it models other effects superbly, and is utterly flexible and malleable to a variety of uses. I opted for the M13 because I wanted good, serviceable varieties of every effect I could ever conceive using...including a phrase sampler.

I didn't get the M13 for its groundbreaking sounds.

The Eventides, on the other hand, are breaking new ground. Like Moog before them, and many of the boutique builders, Eventide is creating the new sounds that Line 6 will come through in the future and model.

So, it's up to you and what you want. If you want new tones you've never heard before, I think the Line 6 would be a let down to you. But for someone like me, it's been a freakin' godsend.

The Eventide's are twice the $$$, but also it sounds like that's what you really want. If I were you I would hold out. You'll be happier in the long run. If you have the money for an m9 you must have the money for at least one of the Eventides. Get one now, and save for the other later.

I own both the ModFactor and the PitchFactor. I didn't buy them both at once, and it was a good six months in between purchases. However, I am very happy with them.

I am looking into a Line6 M9, but not to replace my Eventides. Instead I am looking at it to go on a guitar board along with my Adrenalinn III. (I think I have an addiction... )

Right now I am struggling with which delay I want more. The TimeFactor has great features and would make my board into an Eventide board of doom, but there's something about the Empress Superdelay that is making me seriously consider it.

I sold my Eventide Modfactor to fund an M9 and haven't looked back.

The Modfactor was awesome but I definitely prefer the M9.

Just bought a used M9. I was able to spend time with it first and it will do for now. They seem to hold their value so I can upgrade later if I want to.

I am generally not a pedal person and do not have/want a board. So the " all in one " feature plus programability is a key factor.

Interesting about the Empress Superdelay. I have their ParaEQ and it is Superb.

There's no comparison, the Eventide boxes are incredible sounding and have a tremendous amount of control available.

Obviously, it depends on what you're looking for; if you liked the M13 but just wanted less of it, get an M9. If you wanted more than the M13 could provide, get the Eventides. Price shouldn't stand in the way here, just save up and buy used -- it's worth it to get what you want.

Tough call.
I like the M13 and M9 but only use the Modulation FX on those units anyway, so the ModFactor works great for me.
It's almost overkill and the learning curve isn't very flat, but once you get it (I'm still working on mine!) then it's absolutely rad. Sound quality is a good bit better to me, also.

I think you should choose them both. Or choose the better quality if you want to use it longer.
