buzzing sound with my overdrive/distortion pedal??

Last week i received my boss odb-3 and i have been using but i found when i have it on and im not playing anything there is a large buzzing noise. I tryed different leads because i was using a crap lead and today i tryed with planet waves lead but still the same result. I play a hartke 2500 with a 410tp and a lakland 55-01. can anyone help me out

I think I know exactly what the buzzing noise is.

The ODB-3 is naturally noisy, and can bring out some ground buzz from your bass that you didn't even know you had.

A simple test... when not playing, lightly touch a string or your bridge. The buzzing should stop instantly. When you let go, it should come back. If that's the case, then you should consider upgrading the shielding inside the bass cavity, or just get used to keeping a finger on the strings or bridge to kill the buzz when using the ODB-3.

I should note... the buzzing is generally caused by outside interference - TVs, computers, fluorescent lights, etc.... it might be worth trying to identify the external cause, too, as it'd probably be easier than re-doing the shielding.
