Bye Bye Effects :-(

Sign in to disble this ad
The good news is that I just purchased a new Fender American Classic P-Bass. The bad news is that I've got to sell a bunch of my effects to cover the expense. I've run the numbers and I know that I can keep my Peterson StroboStomp2--it's a must. I can also probably hang on to my Fulltone Bass Drive - Mosfet. But I've good to sell at least six of the following seven effects to offset the cost. Which one would you keep?

Boss Micro BR
Pro Co Rat 2
MXR M-80
MXR Bass Auto Q
EH Nano Baseballs
Boss RC-2
Tech 21 Boost R.V.B.

Thanks,

If it were me, I'd keep the MXR Auto Q. You've already got distortion with the Fulltone, and the Peterson has a DI which eliminates another reason to keep the M-80.

But of course, it all comes down to what you think you would use most. If you use the Micro BR for getting down new ideas, then it would be more valuable than an auto wah.

+1, except the DI on the Peterson is crap.

agreed. Keeping the auto-q is probably your best bet. Unless of course you like the sound of the M-80 and prefer options when it comes to distortion. I'd say its a preference call. Either you have a tuner and 2 distortions or a tuner a distortion and something else to match. But honestly id sell it all, keep the peterson and the fulltone and then pick up a dd-3. Unless of course you don't like delay, again preference.

You're really going to get enough money back from your effects to make a dent in the P-Bass costs?

I'd keep the Micro BR or the RC-2, but I am a loop junkie.

Really?

I always assumed it was at least decent just based on the price point.

No, it's really bad IMO. I mean, it would be usable in a save-the-gig-or-else situation, but I would probably go ask the soundman if he had a Behringer DI I could borrow before opting to use the Peterson.

+1. I use both, but could get by with either/or.

I play a lot of RHCP, so one of them is important in getting that Flea sound on many songs.
