| Bypass looper that sorta isn't - problem!

I have a bypass looper - mini size, LED. Bought it on Ebay.
Seems to work fine. Or seemed to.
I now have an Oxide on my board, and noticed that with I am getting a small amount of fuzz/distortion with the Oxide on and the loop bypassed. Kick the loop in and it distorts more. Turn off the loop AND turn the Oxide off and no distortion at all.
So it seems that the looper doesn't "fully" bypass my board.
I'm not a electronics wiz, but I can more or less solder. It seems to me that a bypass looper is not a crazy sophisticated piece of gear - a switch, a resistor, an led and some wires.
What could be causing this? Bad switch? Bad wiring? Bad juju?
Need help - got a gig next week that uses the pedalboard, and I'd like to get this sussed out and fixed up.
