Bypass Strip Enclosures

I've had a silly idea for a bypass strip, and I'm trying to find the best enclosure to put it in.

So far the largest one I've found is the Hammond 1411WU (12" x 3" x 2.2") but I could use something a bit longer if possible - I want to comfortably fit a row of five stomps on it.

2.2" also seems unnecessarily deep to me, so wider + shallower would be the ideal.

Check loop-master. I'm sure he could custom build whatever you needed, but they also have longer bypass strips.

If you're just looking for a metal enclosure, a metal shop could easily bend sheet metal into whatever size you needed.

Yep. They make nice stuff. I really liked loooper.com but he's no longer building them.

Try Road Rage Pro Gear. They make cheap but decent loopers, and they also sell DIY kits so you can build them yourself if need be.

I don't really want to order from the USA if I can afford it, it's a hassle and the exchange rate isn't as good as it was.

I've looked at the Loooper stuff though and he seems to be able to fit enough stomps on a Hammond smaller than the one I was looking at. I need more LEDs and some flicky switches too but it might work.

I just wondered if Hammond made one a little bit bigger.

Nothing especially clever, just a bit complicated, and probably hard to explain...

Four loops plus master bypass switch, plus one of the loops will have its own loop (ignore this bit, it's easier that way), plus a momentary foot switch to reverse the state of the master bypass, so I can cut in one or more loops intermittently.

Also a flicky switch on each loop to put it in/out of the momentary bypass scheme - so I can have a loop or loops that is "always on" regardless of what's happening with all the other switches.

I figure this will let me set up situations where I can be using an effected sound and then be able to cut in more loops with one stomp, or on the momentary for occasional notes/passages or special effects. So it'd sort-of be a very basic mechanical "programmable" loop switcher but with just two switchable states (not including "off").

The first loop with its own loop is an idea to have a blend loop pedal first in the chain, with the rest of the loop strip in its loop, and so be able to switch between an FX blend and fully wet. I figure this is easier than trying to build a blend circuit into the looper with very little electronic understanding...

It's just an idea at the moment. A half-baked one.

I've seen people build long boxes from aluminum U-channel or box tubing. Try a metal supply/fabrication shop. In the USA there are several online industial suppliers like this:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#
I'm sure there is some eqivalent in the UK.

maybe a bit of a highjack of the thread, but I figure this is as good a place as any.

does anyone know of a looper build in the EU?

Or, I could try to build one myself (or rather, ask my brother, cause he's the handy one), but what would I need for that? I'm clueless about those things... anyone knows of a site where there would be something like a manual for a technological handy challenged person like myself? or would you know which kind of swithches I would need to buy and that kind of stuff? (I'd get neutrik jacks)

thx !

the enclosure won't be a problem, my brother works in an aluminium factory (or something like that)

Roadrage is based in Candaduh. You will probably get better shipping through them and they can do some custom work like what you want.

Loop-master can definitely do what you want, but it's a 5 week build time + shipping to your big island.

A-up feller,

I'm still trying to figure out how to do it, and a bit busy with work this week, if I get there I'll let you know though, sure.
